About Mürren
General Information
Mürren (1650 m) is a marvellous mountain village, public car free, rich in tradition and originally the home of settlers from the Lötschen Valley in the Valais.
Perched on a high, sunny terrace facing the famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, the village is the highest altitude ski resort in the Bernese Oberland. It nestles at the foot of the Schilthorn with its revolving Piz Gloria Restaurant, made world-famous by a James Bond film.
In summer, Mürren is the perfect place from which to start a host of hikes, from simple to strenuous.
You can reach Mürren from Lauterbrunnen by mountain railway (BLM) or from Stechelberg by aerial cableway (LSMS). Mürren has 450 inhabitants.
Excursions
Winteregg
The Winteregg Restaurant, solidly built out of stone and timber, was opened in1989. Amidst unspoiled natural surroundings, this hospitable restaurant with its sunny terrace facing the backdrop of snow capped peaks, provides an oasis of tranquillity for skiers and walkers. Self-service is also catered for. On Saturdays in winter, fondue-parties and barbecues can be enjoyed while listening to live music. On Sundays in summer a hearty Alpine breakfast is served to the accompaniment of live folk music. Gastronomy enjoys a long tradition here. The Winteregg Railway Station was previously called "Halfway" by the first English visitors and also served meals.
Allmendhubel
It takes just a few minutes by modern funicular from Mürren up to Allmendhubel (1907 m). The spacious sunny terrace of the panorama restaurant is the perfect place to relax and enjoy splendid views of the snow-capped Alpine peaks on the opposite side of the valley. Allmendhubel is also an ideal starting point for many of the most beautiful hikes in the region.
Isenfluh
The tiny, peaceful village of Isenfluh (1084 m) with just 80 inhabitants, perches on a steep mountain terrace, only a few kilometres from Lauterbrunnen. From the village you have a perfect panorama of mighty Alpine peaks, from the Eiger to the Grosshorn. For even more spectacular views, take the aerial cableway from Isenfluh up to Sulwald. In Isenfluh you will also find the Geneva Bible School and the Evangelical Children's Holiday Home "Bödeli". In summer, Isenfluh is the starting point of many wonderful walking and hiking.

Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe
The panorama from the viewing plateau on the Jungfraujoch- Top of Europe is unique, grandiose, breathtaking - almost indescribable! To the north, on a clear day you can see as far as the French Vosges and the Black Forest in Germany. To the south lies the awe-inspiring Aletsch Glacier, at 22 km the longest ice stream in the Alps. Its glacier melt flows into the Mediterranean. Mighty ice masses lie under the plateau, the watershed of Europe. These move slowly northwards, with their melt flowing into the North Sea. They provide the space for the unique Ice Palace.
Schilthorn/Piz Gloria
Be bewitched by a magical high-Alpine winter wonderworld of more than 200 magnificent mountain peaks and 40 glistening glaciers. The panorama extends from the Titlis, along the Bernese Alps, including the Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau, to distant Mont Blanc and far across the central lowlands to the Jura and Germany's Black Forest. Relax in the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant and fall under the spell of the unforgettable "Magic Mountain" - the Schilthorn!
Trümmelbach falls
On the road between Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg lies the entrance to the famous Trummelbach Falls, which alone carry the glacier melt from the west wall of the Eiger and the north walls of the Mönch and Jungfrau. The Trümmelbach Falls were first made accessible in1886 and have ever since been regarded as a unique attraction, drawing visitors from all over the world.
