Wengen with its 1300 inhabitants is located some 4265 feet/ 1300 m a. s. l. at the foot of the imposing Eiger-Moench-Jungfrau mountains in the heart of the Bernese Oberland. As there is no road leading to Wengen, the village has only a few cars and good railway connections. The village is well-known for its sport highlights such as the world cup ski race in winter and the Jungfrau Marathon in summer.
